Babys ear infection taking forever to go away.

I thought my 16 month old was teething and he was but after five days of overwhelming fussiness and crying I took him in and found out he had an ear infection we are on day number 3 of antibiotics and it does not seem like he's really gotten any better has this happened with anyone else? Is it just taking a while oh, and I just expecting results to quickly?
