Date night might feel like just another chore you have to add to your already busy schedule, but it’s really important for parents to just take time out and enjoy each other’s company.
Yes, date night is important to keep the communication lines open, rekindle your passion for each other and let one another know that you’re not taking the other for granted, but there are also many other reasons why you should take the night off and paint the town red.
When you and your partner spend more time together, chances are you’ll argue less – which is better for your kids in the long run. Women also need more social interaction than men. According to The Couples Center, social scientists have found that women who spend at least one period of “couple time” a week with their spouse are as much as 7 times happier in their marriage.
If that isn’t already reason enough to book your table at AURUM right now, the fact that date night will make your sex life better should clinch the deal.

If your babysitter isn’t already on speed dial, she will be when you see what AURUM has on their new seasonal menu.
And trust us, you want a bite of it. It’s simply delicious – each dish is an exotic burst of flavour.
My husband and I went with fish for starters. I had the Salmon while he went for the West Coast Mussels (which I obviously tasted, as we always do. I hate having food envy – which often happens when we go out for dinner).
But, luckily this time around I took the Chef’s advice, and hubby ended up with food envy. My Salmon was deliciously fresh and even healthy – not that I was counting calories. The Mussels were also really delicious with a yummy tomato sauce. Both great choices I would say.
The Main event
I’ve never ordered a Risotto in a restaurant – somehow, I also feel like you have to order a meat dish. Once I again I took the Chef’s recommendation and I’m so glad I did. I can’t even begin to explain the flavours in the Prawn Risotto. It’s simply ‘magnifique’ as the French would say. This risotto is another reason why you should book your table ASAP. You won’t regret it.
If you don’t already know – we’ll let you in on a little secret – never skip dessert! Dessert doesn’t go to the stomach. It goes to your heart. And the AURUM ‘Magnum’ now holds the number 1 spot in my heart. The presentation is gorgeous and it’s just so creamy and yummy!
My husband had the ‘Affogato” – a delicious dark chocolate dessert with a hint of coffee. So, if like him, you’re not too big on the sweet stuff, this dessert is perfect.
The wine list
I love wine, especially good wines I haven’t tasted before. I’m like a little girl waiting to open her Christmas present when I see a wine I haven’t tried before. AURUM’S wine list did not disappoint. They have a great selection of both local and French wines.
