Tv Presenter Denise Zimba has broken the silence on how exhausting motherhood really is, saying “this motherhood thing has BEEEEN glamorized.”
The new mom, who gave birth to a baby girl – Leah Lilli-Rose Schlichtig – in July 2019 took to Instagram yesterday sharing that she’s been a mom for a little more than a year now, but that she’s still going through it.
“This year has been the hardest for many of us, and the effects of it has yet to crippled us for some time.”
Lockdown has had a huge impact on the mental health of South African families – and working mothers aren’t always coping with their many roles – wife, mother, teacher, employee. Moms don’t always make time for themselves to just regroup and relax because often it feels like you should be doing something else more important. But being mentally healthy is what’s important for your family.

“I finally took the courage to get myself back and do WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY … Talk about sacrifice. Nothing like being a first time mom and wife, and wanting to be whole again, without the titles …” Denise says on Instagram.
“To moms who have realized that for the most part, this motherhood thing has BEEEEN glamorized, stop being hard on yourself. Even that is overrated. Do what the f**k you need to do to get through these tough days. Thank heavens for milestones – the recharge you will forever need 😁🤗!!
It’s okay if you don’t love being a mom every day.
“I have days when I just don’t want to do it anymore. But somehow the universe has designed specific journeys to allow strength to prevail, so hang on and hang in there.”
