Local celeb admits to cheating on wife and mother of his child – videos leaked on Twitter

South Africans woke up to the shocking news that Expresso Presenter and OUTsurance star Katlego Maboe cheated on his wife and the mother of his child, Monique Muller.

A video clip of Monique confronting him about his cheating leaked on social media late last night. In the first video a sullen Katlego stands in his velvet blue gown while his wife tells him that he will tell her what happened because he should know where his priorities lie. She’s shouting at him telling him that she gave him an ultimatum and that it sucks for him, but he needs to decide now because he ruined her life. And just then Katlego throws a woman named Nikkita Murray under the bus. He then admits to sleeping with her in what sounds like February in his hotel room. He says the two of them went out after which they went back to his hotel room and slept together. It only happened once he tells his wife in the video.

In a second video clip (which we presume must’ve been recorded before the first one), Katlego asks Monique he will really be part of his son’s life every day if he tells her what she wants to hear and that she’s not just using the video to go to court. She assures him that he will be a part of his son’s life but she’s asking for his respect and that he destroyed her entire life – that he gave her an STD that’s destroying her womb and her chances of having another child.

Katlego responds

A couple of hours after the videos leaked, Katlego posted the following on his Instagram profile:

I was unfaithful to my partner during a very important time of our lives – an act I regret to this day. We are currently undergoing an unfortunate and painful separation which is being resolved through legal proceedings. As you can imagine, separations are quite a difficult thing to deal with, especially with a child involved.

In light of the comments made against me, I would like to state that I have never abused my partner. I have always and will always stand up against the abuse of women and children – in fact, the abuse of anyone for that matter.

I had chosen to deal with this matter privately to protect and safeguard our child. At the end of the day, our child is all that matters to me.

However, I will leave this to the legal system and let the truth have its day.”

When things go sour in a marriage

When your partner has an affair, it can leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about him, yourself and your relationship. When a child is involved, cheating becomes that much more difficult and destructive.

So, how do you handle a situation like this?

According to Relationship Advice & Coaching, you should be selfish. Your first impulse might be to direct your energy to your child to make sure that he’s okay with all the tension going on around him, but it’s really important to make time for yourself as well.

You can’t be there for your child if you don’t take time to heal and make yourself a priority.

Get support – whether it’s from family, friends or a professional. You might just need someone to take your child out for a while so you can just sit and cry, or you might just need a friend to listen to you and give advice on what you should do.

It’s also very important to be honest with your child. You don’t have to share all the details, but you could say something like: “Daddy made a mistake and mommy feels very sad about it. Both mommy and daddy love you very much and are here for you.”

Remember that you have a choice. You shouldn’t stay in a relationship just for the sake of your child because this won’t benefit anyone.

Think about what would be the best and wisest situation for your child, your relationship and you.
