Cool down with these quick and easy home-made ice pops

Feel like ice cream but don’t feel like driving to the garage or corner shop? You can make your own ice pops at home – all you need is popsicle molds – and if you don’t have, you can use small plastic cups, an ice tray or a muffin tin lined with cupcake wrappers.

Pour your popsicle mixture in your cup, mold or muffin pan and when it’s almost frozen, put a short stick in each and leave until completely frozen.

How to make the ice pops

Berry delicious (red berry pops)

We used fresh cherry juice and filled the pops with fresh pomegranate and a mix of frozen berries.

Cucumber coolie – with lemon and lime

Place thin slices of cucumber on the sides and fill with liqui fruits cooler – lemon mix and add a dash of lime juice.

Yoghurt coffee and vanilla pops

*Note: With the yoghurt lollies – the thinner the yoghurt/milk mix is, the easier they’ll freeze.

In a small jug, add equal amounts of yoghurt and milk (so that it’s a thin, easy to pour consistency). In a separate cup, dissolve two teaspoons of instant coffee and 1 tablespoon of sugar with a very little bit of hot water. Add the sugar coffee mix to your yoghurt and freeze away.

Choc chip dippers

In a small jug, add equal amounts of yoghurt and milk, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and chocolate chips – or your favourite chocolate roughly grated. Mix everything together and pour into mold. When it’s frozen, you can take it out of the mold and drizzle it with chocolate.

Yogi strawberry and banana

In a small jug, mix equal amounts of milk and yoghurt. Blend or purée 3-4 strawberries with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Add the puréed strawberries to the yoghurt /milk mix. Just before you pour the mix – place your thin slices of banana on the sides of your mold or cup.

Orange strawberry surprise

Place a few thin slices of strawberry on the sides of the mold and fill with 100% fresh orange juice.

Gooseberry and litchi lollies

Place halved gooseberries on the sides of the mold and fill with 100% litchi juice.
