3 indoor play parks in Gauteng for rainy-day fun

With another cold front setting in for the weekend, all those sunny, outdoor plans with the kids you’d had in mind for the weekend can be kissed good-bye. But don’t stress, there are a number of really cool indoor play parks you can take them to to get rid of their energy. The bonus is that you get to have some time-out while they jump, run and play in a safe, contained environment.

Today, PlayTown is celebrating its first birthday 🎂🥳🎉We are extremely grateful to have made it this far, and to be able…

Situated in a security-controlled business park with only one entry and exit point, PlayTown is a safe environment for kids aged 0-13 years to come and play.

Why your kids will love it

Its main focus is on pretend play, so there are 10 playrooms, each with a different theme, dotted around the warehouse for your little ones to lose themselves in imaginary play. The pretend rooms are surrounded by a track decorated with traffic signs for the kids to ride with their bikes.

There’s also an “outdoor play area” (which is actually still inside a tent), where the kids can climb tree houses and rock walls, and there’s loads of trampolines for awesome jumping fun.

What about the parents?

There’s a fully equipped family-style restaurant with a great menu, which includes bottomless coffee.

Why your kids will love it

The fun for the little ones start in their own private toddler section, equipped with the cutest mini jungle gym, ball pitt, rocking horses, toddler bikes, puzzles and toys.

But the journey continues for your older kids with a bike track complete with stop streets, a traffic light, pedestrian crossing, yellow lines and parking to teach them about road safety and road rules.

There’s also a “fun house estate” which consists of three wooden houses (complete with a garage each), each with its own theme. There’s the Tool House where the kids can “fix” things, the Kitchen House where they can “cook” and the Doll House where they can pretend to be moms and dads.

What about the parents?

With child minders to keep an eye on your kids, you can sit back and relax over a cup of coffee or tea in the Pit Stop Café while catching up on social media, or a good book. You can also order a variety of meals, from toasted sandwiches to hotdogs from their kid-friendly menu.
