You’ve been stuck at home for months with nowhere to go, so make the most of Level 2’s new regulations this weekend and head somewhere fun for the day.
Here’s our pick of the 3 best family outings for Jozi parents this weekend:
Joburg Zoo
We’re sure the kids have been begging you to go see the animals at the zoo. Did you know Joburg Zoo houses over 320 species of animals? Your kids will love walking around looking at all the different animals. You can have lunch at the zoo’s restaurant, grab something to eat from the many food stalls, or pack your own picnic basket to enjoy in one of the many open spaces on the Zoo grounds. Don’t forget your masks at home!
Cost:
- Adults – R110
- Kids (3 – 12 years) – R65
- Parking – R16
Opening times:
Monday to Sunday from 8:30am to 4:30pm (Last entry at 16:00pm)
Croc City and Reptile Park Croc City
If your kids like reptiles, they’ll love Croc City! They can hold a baby crocodile and even touch exotic snakes. Don’t forget to visit the Croc FlyOver Experience where you’ll get to fly five metres above the ground over the crocodiles. How exciting!

- Adults – R90
- Kids – R60

Acrobranch Melrose
The kids, and even you, will have a blast at Acrobranch. They’ll love swinging through trees, dangling from branches and balancing in the air. But, don’t stress. They’ll be perfectly safe. They are tugged safely into snug harnesses and hooked into secure lines all through the course. While there is adult supervision, children are encouraged to go at their own pace and move their own clips themselves. All courses are designed with specific ages in mind to keep your kids entertained…and safe.
Cost:
This will depend on your child’s age and the course you choose. But prices start from R150 for kids 3 – 6 years.
Opening times:
Wednesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm
